The best way to capture the atmosphere of Sanibel Island is by visiting the local farmers market while staying with Sanibel Vacations. The Sanibel Farmers Market is one of the largest Sanibel Island events that started in 2008 and has since stood the test of time returning each year in October and lasting through May. Each Sunday morning, beginning at 8 a.m. and continuing until 1 p.m., you’ll be able to take a stroll through the open-air local market that features over 40 vendors. We’ll give you a sneak peek of what you can experience at the Sanibel Farmers Market during each coming season.
What to Expect
Skip the grocery stores on Sanibel Island and indulge the scent of fresh-cut flowers while you sip on a coffee and stretch your legs at the Sanibel Farmers Market. Each passing season brings an abundance of freshly grown produce to the market, which tends to be cheaper than what you can find in the supermarket. You’ll find everything, including breakfast sandwiches, prepared food, baked goods, cheese, pasta, seafood, meats, sauces, and locally grown vegetables and fruits. Not only will you find delicious food, but you’ll also be able to pick up handcrafted jewelry, artwork, skincare products, and one-of-a-kind items you won’t find anywhere else.
Good to Know Info
The Sanibel Farmers Market is located at the City Hall, and we suggest arriving early as the market is one of the most popular Sanibel Island events. You’ll find parking all around City Hall; however, when parking seems to be a bit of a pretzel, be patient as it tends to turn quickly. Perhaps taking one of our Sanibel Island bike rentals from SBL Outfitters to the market would be the best idea. While dogs are not allowed at the market, you will be able to purchase puppy treats for your furry friend! Some of the vendors accept cards, but we suggest being prepared with cash and smaller bills to be safe. Find more information about the Sanibel Farmers Market and other market locations here!
